India's digital economy is growing fast — but access to devices, internet, and skilled teachers is still uneven. For underprivileged and rural students, the digital divide can decide who gets future-ready skills and who is left watching from the sidelines.
What students are missing
Computer literacy, basic coding, robotics exposure, and online learning tools are no longer "extras." They shape confidence, career awareness, and the ability to use government and education services online.
Without access, children may complete school yet feel unprepared for college admissions, jobs, or even everyday digital tasks.
Community computer labs make a difference
Shared labs in schools, orphanages, and learning centres give children hands-on practice. Guided sessions in Scratch, office tools, internet safety, and STEM kits turn curiosity into skill.
How we can close the gap
Used laptops, robotics kits, volunteer trainers, and CSR-supported labs all help. Consistency matters: a weekly class with a mentor often beats a one-day workshop alone.
LAF runs and supports free computer learning centres and STEM initiatives. Explore the robotics library, or donate technology.
